today or never
“Today or never. That’s my motto.” – Mary Poppins
I first heard this quote in an online forum and a different context than when Mary Poppins says it, but the message still rings very true to me.
often times, it's not a question of doing something today or tomorrow, but a question of doing it today or never.
even something as simple as posting a couple of thoughts here once a week becomes a herculean task that needs days of background mental preparation.
I am sure it gets easier to do difficult things as a part of a daily or weekly routine, to the point where articulating my thoughts and communicating them effectively may become second nature.
or alternatively, to incorporate external deadlines and light a fire under my ass - forcing myself to do my best at a post, knowing I have readers eagerly waiting.
neither of these approaches have I used in maintaining this blog.
but on some level, I imagine even if posting here was part of a routine and even with people anticipating my posts, the Mary Poppins quote would still apply.
if it were trivial and even euphoric to write blog posts where I dig deep and try to post what are the ground beliefs and values I hold, then I would pinch myself until I woke up.

not to say all difficult things are worthwhile, but that all worthwhile things are more difficult to achieve than they are easy.
and the only time to work towards difficult and worthwhile goals is today.
one of those goals will continue to be articulating my thoughts here more often.
